Serve as a Medical Assistant providing direct patient care in various outpatient clinical settings, performing patient intake, assisting with procedures, and administering medications to support the healthcare team at Michigan Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals
- Assist with minor clinical office procedures
- Perform standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing
- Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
- Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures
- Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
- Complete general administrative duties as assigned including FMLA, Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 0-1 years of experience for Assistant Level, 1-3 years for Associate Level
Nice to Have
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
- Experience working within a large complex health care setting
- Familiarity with electronic medical records system
