About This Role

Serve as a Medical Assistant providing direct patient care in various outpatient clinical settings, performing patient intake, assisting with procedures, and administering medications to support the healthcare team at Michigan Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals
  • Assist with minor clinical office procedures
  • Perform standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
  • Complete general administrative duties as assigned including FMLA, Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years of experience for Assistant Level, 1-3 years for Associate Level

Nice to Have

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system
