Medical Assistant

About This Role

Provide direct patient care in a clinical setting at Atrium Health Levine Children's Specialty Center Cardiology. This role involves rooming patients, assisting providers with procedures, performing lab duties, and administering medications and vaccines safely.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Medical Assistant scope of practice and maintain training and competency
• Perform rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, and medical history
• Assist provider with or perform procedures as ordered
• Perform lab related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, and CLIA approved waived laboratory tests
• Administer medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration
• Perform other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and appointment scheduling
• Maintain a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned and stocked
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to pediatric patients

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant military training/experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training (clinical in nature)
• No Experience Required

Nice to Have

• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) certification
