Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician, ensuring supplies and equipment are available for efficient patient care. This role involves direct patient contact, requiring a friendly and professional attitude.
Responsibilities
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height
- Accompany patients to exam rooms and assist with walking, transfers, dressing, and preparation for the physician
- Provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients and coworkers
- Document and record information in written or electronic form, including using electronic medical records
- Communicate with supervisors, peers, patients, and physicians via telephone, written messages, email, or in person
- Clean according to scheduled maintenance, manage inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and restock treatment and exam rooms
- Monitor and track prescription eRX and refill requests
- Prepare treatment rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol
- Fill out lab requisitions for pathology and coordinate pick-up with labs
- Send orders for labs, imaging, referrals, or medications to appropriate facilities as ordered by provider
- Schedule STAT requests for patients with insurance prior authorization when necessary
- Monitor biohazard and sharps daily according to OSHA guidelines
- Restock, manage, and check expiration dates for all supplies
- Answer clinical phone calls and return all messages before daily deadlines
- Comply with all AZCCC policies and procedures and maintain strict confidentiality
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program
- Computer experience with EMR knowledge
- Professional appearance
- Strong medical terminology
- Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Excellent work ethic including integrity, positive attitude, productivity, organization, and respect for leadership
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail-oriented, fast-paced setting
- Medical assistant certification
- Valid CPR certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with successful completion of a medical assistant program
