Medical Assistant

About This Role

Support ENT providers by managing patient flow, performing clinical procedures, and maintaining an organized exam environment. This role involves both front and back-office operations, contributing to high-quality patient care in a fast-paced specialty practice.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organize patient flow
• Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with transfers, dressing, and specimen collection
• Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines
• Relay instructions to patients/families
• Manage patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations
• Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control
• Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits
• Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms
• Comply with regulatory agency requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health)
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs
• Document patient information into the medical record
• Answer calls and provide pertinent patient education as directed
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information
• Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and patient demographics
• Administer injectable medication and vaccines under physician direction and supervision

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities
• Medical Assistant certification OR minimum of five years Medical Assistant experience
