Work with engineers and technicians to perform daily tasks related to non-metallic and metallic materials testing, including sample preparation, test setup, testing, and reporting. This role offers invaluable on-the-job experience and exposure to the materials testing field.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of physical property testing including, but not limited to; tensile, compression, flexural, hardness, thermal conductivity, flammability, water absorption, vapor transmission, color, gloss, adhesion, weld macros, charpy, sample etching, hardness and microhardness, etc.
- Prepare and analyze samples for testing, primarily in the non-metallic department with crossover into the metallic department as available
- Interpret data, review, and report testing results
- Assist testing engineers with tasks as needed
Requirements
- Working toward a Bachelor's or Associate degree in Materials Science or related field
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn and participate in testing within a laboratory setting
