This Marriage and Family Therapist position, under the general direction of a Senior Psychologist/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, diagnoses and treats mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems for incarcerated patients. It ensures referrals to other licensed healthcare professionals as needed. The role is located at Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) within Mental Health Services.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems
- Treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems
- Refer incarcerated patients to other licensed healthcare professionals in accordance with standardized procedures
- Work cooperatively within Mental Health Services
Requirements
- Completion of a master's degree program from an accredited school for Marriage and Family Therapy that meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4980.36
- Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science
