Manager Mechanical Engineering

About This Role

Manage the Mechanical Engineering Group, overseeing activities related to product design, production techniques, and testing procedures for flight simulators and visual systems. This role involves direct supervision of employees, budget management, and ensuring projects align with company policies and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Directly or indirectly supervise 15 to 45 employees within the Mechanical Engineering Group
• Recruit, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions
• Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
• Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
• Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand
• Forecast operating costs of the department and direct preparation of budget requests
• Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and inter-departmental relations
• Provide direction and act as an example in the application of company policies and procedures
• Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develop recommendations accordingly
• Establish staff performance expectations and provide regular feedback from both informal and scheduled reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, a technical or business discipline
• 10 years experience
• Understanding of Mechanical engineering practices and standards
• Proficiency in Word processing, Spreadsheets, Microsoft Office
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Proficiency in Solid Works
