About This Role

This role creates an alternative manager staffing option to provide department and site relief by temporarily filling registered nurse managers into vacant positions. The manager coordinates and manages all resources necessary to provide optimal nursing care, and evaluates the quality of patient care by department staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all resources necessary to provide optimal nursing care, including staffing, supplies, and automated patient care systems.
  • Maintain an optimal level of productivity through efficient 24-hour staffing and scheduling patterns.
  • Evaluate the quality of patient care using standards of practice, patient outcomes, and quality indicators.
  • Develop service strategies and monitor service levels to improve customer and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain and promote effective relationships with patients, families, staff, other departments, and medical staff.
  • Facilitate evidence-based nursing by encouraging utilization of evidence in practice and decision-making.
  • Participate in shared governance councils and provide feedback and recommendations for changes in nursing practice.
  • Attain and maintain department's compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and communicate change initiatives, achieve care management targets, and plan for staffing needs.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities including interviewing, selection, staff development, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Certification in specialty within 1 year of eligibility
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • 5 years of experience in nursing (including experiences in multiple areas)
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in managing a staff and budgets in a nursing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing management concepts, clinical practice, and facilities policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal with conflict resolution
  • Strong aptitude in human resource management
  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Sound decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in use of computers, software, and other electronic systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 5 years of experience in nursing that includes experiences in multiple areas, with 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff and budgets in a nursing environment.
