About This Role

The Maintenance Manager oversees daily maintenance operations for a portfolio of affordable residential properties, ensuring buildings operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. This role involves leading and developing maintenance teams, partnering with property leadership, and supporting complex mechanical and facility-related projects to enhance resident experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance operations across a portfolio of affordable residential properties in Hudson Valley, NY
  • Ensure buildings operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Lead and support a team of Maintenance Supervisors, Technicians, and Janitorial staff
  • Set clear expectations, promote accountability, and maintain high performance standards for the team
  • Drive operational consistency, preventative maintenance practices, and a culture that reflects Core Values
  • Conduct regular property visits to provide guidance and technical support to Maintenance Supervisors and Community Managers
  • Participate in talent management functions including interviewing, onboarding, training, and disciplinary actions
  • Assist in developing Scopes of Work, soliciting bids, and coordinating contracts for vendor services and capital projects
  • Complete annual apartment inspections using mobile facilities application to NSPIRE standards
  • Manage and participate in REAC inspection preparation and coordinate emergency response teams

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in facilities management with 5+ years of multifamily experience or comparable in regional management
  • Prior experience and knowledge of affordable housing and applicable knowledge of HUD-REAC NSPIRE inspections
  • Strong skills in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical/appliance repairs
  • Strong leadership presence and proven track record in employee development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight, ranging from 25% to 35%
  • Availability to work outside of standard business hours

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in facilities management with 5+ years of multifamily experience or comparable in regional management

Nice to Have

  • Affordable housing experience preferred
