The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Residency Program at Texas Health Resources offers graduate LVNs a unique 15-month opportunity to gain experience, judgment, skills, and confidence in a hospital setting. Residents will participate in a guided clinical experience with an instructor-led core curriculum, formal mentoring, and rotations through various departments.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a guided clinical experience on a personally selected home unit
- Rotate and cross-train through other departments to gain expanded nursing experience
- Commit to a 15-month employment period after program completion
- Provide acute medical/surgical patient care focusing on various diagnoses including urology, limb salvage, chronic wounds, GI, diabetes, and respiratory overflow
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
- Acceptance into THR residency program
- Active LVN license upon hire
- BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
- Less than one year experience at the time the residency begins is preferred
Nice to Have
- Graduated within the last 12 months
- Less than one year of experience at the time the residency begins
- Have not previously completed a THR nursing residency
