Provide professional nursing care to residents of all ages in a long-term care setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. This role ensures the health, comfort, and safety of residents, administering medications and treatments as ordered, and contributing to resident assessment.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for residents in relevant clinical settings
- Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge
- Utilize appropriate age and population specific standards related to resident physical and psychosocial needs
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provide needed care
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively to emergent situations
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents
- Administer medications or treatments as ordered
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or had a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility, or supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of pre-licensure nursing program curriculum
Nice to Have
- Associate degree in practical nursing
