Provide professional nursing care to residents of all ages in a long-term care setting, under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role focuses on ensuring resident health, comfort, and safety, administering medications, and documenting resident interactions.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care under supervision
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provide necessary care
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively to assist in emergent situations
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
- Document resident interactions, outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans
- Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span OR a minimum of 400 hours of LPN experience
- Obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications
- Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility, or supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of a pre-licensure nursing program.
