Long-term Substitute Custodian

About This Role

Perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe and clean environment for students, teachers, and visitors. This is a long-term substitute position from February to April.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure buildings at the beginning and end of shifts
• Clean rooms, hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other building areas
• Sweep, mop, buff, strip, and wax floors
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills
• Remove graffiti and clean glass areas
• Replace light bulbs
• Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for events
• Clear snow from entrances and walks, and spread sand/ice melting chemicals
• Perform groundskeeping duties, clear debris, and maintain grounds
• Receive deliveries and assist in unloading trucks and storing supplies
• Deliver supplies and materials to classrooms, bathrooms, and other areas
• Empty wastebaskets, pick up and remove trash, and assist in recycling
• Perform general cleaning and repair work, especially during school vacations
• Assist parents and other visitors with special events and programs

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid New Jersey driver's license
• Ability to pass criminal background check
• Ability to pass fingerprints
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
• Ability to pass TB test

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable

• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance
• Black Seal License
