Maintain and repair light and heavy-duty automotive equipment and vehicles for the State Equipment Fleet, ensuring critical infrastructure and transportation systems in Alaska remain operational.
Responsibilities
- Professionally maintain all heavy-duty and light duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other user agency vehicles
- Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems through a variety of techniques and methods
- Perform routine and specialized repair and maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engine and emission systems
- Diagnose, maintain, repair and modify fuel injection, hydraulic systems, and brake systems including air and electrical for light and heavy-duty equipment
- Travel in small planes to remote locations to maintain and repair vehicles, including day trips and overnight stays
Requirements
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance
- Flexibility in adapting to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
- Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
- Ability to set well-defined and realistic personal goals
- High level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Motivated to achieve
- Demonstrate responsible behavior
