About This Role

Provide essential healthcare services to offenders within a correctional facility, promoting health and rehabilitation. This role involves triaging and assessing patients, administering medications, maintaining medical records, and handling crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments
• Maintain patient medical records
• Observe, document, and report changes in the physical and mental conditions of patients
• Handle crisis situations in a calm and effective manner

Requirements

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
• For Corrections Nurse 2: One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse OR successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse I with the State of Alaska

Qualifications

• Corrections Nurse 1 requires eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Corrections Nurse 2 requires one year of entry-level Registered Nurse experience or successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse I with State of Alaska.
