The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will triage patients, assist physicians with procedures, administer immunizations and allergy shots, and manage prescription requests in an OB/GYN setting. This role supports Community Health Programs' mission and values by providing high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Triage patients by telephone or walk-in to determine urgency and level of care needed
- Approve same-day visits when appropriate
- Assist with referrals to area specialists and PT-1 forms
- Provide patient education
- Supervise medical assistants as needed
- Assist physicians in all procedures requiring nursing level support
- Administer immunizations and allergy shots
- Manage requests for prescription medication
- Process laboratory results, review and hold partials, flagging abnormal for provider review and filing normal
- Contact patients with results as directed
- Chart all procedures performed
- Assist with running daily controls on equipment and charting for quality assurance
- Ensure billing codes are correct
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing
- Licensed as a practical nurse by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Prior OB/GYN experience
- Electronic medical records experience
Qualifications
- Graduation of an accredited school of practical nursing
- Minimum of three years' experience in an ambulatory setting is preferred. Prior OB/GYN experience is required.
Nice to Have
- Minimum of three years’ experience in an ambulatory setting
- CPR certification
- Spanish speaking/bilingual
