The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) directly assists residents with medical treatments and daily living activities while contributing to the larger medical team. This role supports Registered Nurses and Therapeutic Program Workers, ensuring comprehensive care for veterans.
Responsibilities
- Complete physician orders and assist with exams, treatments, and specimen collection
- Administer medication, including controlled substances
- Observe and document residents’ condition in the Point-Click-Care system and report to the medical team
- Create necessary reports such as progress notes, care plans, and monthly summaries
- Provide general nursing and direct care to residents, including assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, and range of motion
- Escort and support residents at medical appointments or recreational activities as needed
- Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to promote positive outcomes
- Apply safety and infection control measures
- Provide assistance, work direction, and training to Therapeutic Program Workers (STNA) as assigned
- Attend team meetings and required trainings
Requirements
- License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code
- Proof of completion of an approved course in medication administration
