Licensed Practical Nurse

About This Role

This role involves assisting in the direction of nursing services for a unit/hall, delegating duties, and monitoring patient conditions to ensure quality nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direction of nursing services for unit/hall, in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act, and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Delegate duties to professional nurses and non-professional nursing personnel and monitor work performance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Observe patients for symptoms and/or reactions, including general physical and/or mental condition for signs, which may be indicative of adverse change
• Assist with notifying attending physician of emergencies and death of patients in the unit
• Implement changes in orders as instructed or ordered by physicians
• Provide quality nursing care to patients and follow doctors’ orders
• Work as charge nurse as needed during emergencies to assure adequate coverage
• Attend in-service training and other staff meetings as required

Requirements

• High school graduate
• Licensed Practical Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current, valid license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing
• Willingness to work as charge nurses and as needed during emergencies
• Ability to provide quality nursing care to patients
• Ability to follow doctors’ orders
• Genuine interest in geriatric nursing
• CPR certified yearly

Qualifications

• High school graduate and Licensed Practical Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing
