Licensed Practical Nurse

About This Role

This role manages individualized, evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process and primary nursing principles, ensuring high-quality patient care in accordance with departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing intervention, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
• Demonstrate knowledge of procedures and theories related to the care of patients in their patient population.
• Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
• Work within Scope of Practice for the LPN, as outlined by the Pennsylvania Code.
• Identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and the nursing department.
• Identify discharge-planning needs of patient/family/significant other on admission and throughout the course of care.
• Identify patient care problems and communicate them to RN.
• Maintain open communication using appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.

Requirements

• Technical School Diploma LPN Program
• Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
• Basic computer skills
• Critical thinking
• Ability to concentrate
• Familiarity with hospital health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
• Knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
• LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
