About This Role

This role involves serving as a Lead Project Accountant, bridging complex financial contracts with scalable engineering solutions within the US Fintech landscape. The individual will own the entire lifecycle of accounting integration, translating contract literature and technical documents into robust T-accounting logic, and partnering with Product Development to build, test, and launch the systems that automate financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify scope, T-accounting requirements, and solutioning for new Fintech initiatives
  • Direct program and squad toward strategic goals, managing dependencies across PD, Legal, and Ops
  • Research and document company positions on technical accounting issues, presenting conclusions to business partners
  • Lead use-case testing and UAT to ensure system builds match accounting intent
  • Gather and prepare journal entries for a broad range of accounting areas, ensuring GAAP compliance
  • Apply expert judgment to ensure the integrity of accruals, reconciliations, and the overall control environment
  • Work directly with external auditors to support financial statement audits and control testing
  • Constantly look for ways to automate manual "run the business" tasks to accelerate scaling
  • Review complex legal contracts and technical documents to determine accounting impacts and design T-Accounting flows
  • Translate GAAP conclusions into clear, actionable technical requirements for Product and Engineering teams

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience
  • Deep expertise in US GAAP
  • CPA or a background in technical accounting at a Big 4 firm or a major tech company
  • "Builder" mindset, understanding how data flows through a distributed system
  • Proven ability to partner with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Operations
  • Track record of taking massive, ambiguous projects from a "whiteboard idea" to a "successful global launch"
  • Ability to work in either San Diego or Mountain View office at least 3 times a week

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience; Deep expertise in US GAAP is required.
