Lead Lab Technologist Histology

About This Role

Lead and guide a team of lab technologists and assistants while performing a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures, including specimen examination and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide lab technologists, lab assistants, and other laboratory staff, acting as a resource and handling difficult tests/procedures
• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures relevant to the particular lab, preparing and testing specimens for examination and reporting results
• Perform all Quality Control procedures, including accumulation and recording of data, and review, evaluate, and document all corrective action
• Perform routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, reagents, technical problems, and methodologies
• Order and maintain sufficient supplies at each work station through the inventory control system
• Assist in in-service training programs and scheduling, as needed, and assist in all bench training and employee competency in the laboratory
• Use Infection Control practices and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science, or related field
• Licensed by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
• Minimum of six (6) years relevant clinical experience

Nice to Have

• Histopathology/ histology experience
• Willingness to support non-gynecological onsite evaluations
