Landscape Gardener Intern

About This Role

The Landscape Gardener Intern will gain valuable experience in landscape maintenance, turf care, and other horticulture aspects by working with a specified team across the Estate. This role involves performing essential gardening duties, operating equipment, and contributing to seasonal displays while developing skills in plant identification and soil management.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic ground maintenance duties including general cleanup, trash removal, weeding, mowing, hauling, and chipping brush
• Assist in basic gardening duties with supervision, including preparing beds, installing plants, maintaining planted areas, watering, pest control, mulching, and staking
• Recognize significant woody and herbaceous plants by common name in the work area
• Identify and report plant problems to the Supervisor
• Operate basic grounds equipment and various hand tools safely and efficiently after appropriate training
• Assist in the application of fertilizers and/or pesticides with supervision, as required
• Use proper watering techniques
• Reliably work as scheduled, including weekends, emergency duty, and overtime
• Attend and successfully complete a variety of job-related training sessions
• Provide support and assistance for other departments, including holiday and special events

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college program and receiving credit for the internship
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Valid driver's license
• At least 19 years of age
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Proactive and takes initiative
• Good judgment
• Comfortable interacting with guests in a service environment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, currently enrolled in a college program receiving credit for the internship

Certifications
