About This Role

This internship offers culinary students the opportunity to rotate through Biltmore's professional kitchens, gaining hands-on experience and confidence in diverse restaurant environments. Interns will develop skills across various culinary disciplines, contributing to the organization's commitment to guest-focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through two of Biltmore's professional kitchens
  • Gain confidence and experience in different restaurant environments
  • Participate in field trips and other training opportunities, including sustainable farming and field-to-table programs
  • Develop skills in meat and fish fabrication
  • Refine knife skills
  • Experience a la carte service
  • Learn buffet and banquet service techniques
  • Prepare classical sauces
  • Produce fresh pasta
  • Master plate design and presentation

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited culinary training program
  • Ability to commit to a minimum 12-week training period
  • Commitment to guest-focused service
  • Passion for developing culinary skills in a variety of settings
  • Ability to endure various physical movements throughout the work area
  • Ability to remain ambulatory and in stationary positions for shifts
  • Able to stand, twist, bend, push, pull, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly for up to 10 hours
  • Able to work effectively in a kitchen environment with occasional extremes in temperature

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited culinary training program
