About This Role

Courteously greet and escort guests to tables in the dining room, ensuring high standards of service. Assist in preparing the restaurant for service, maintain cleanliness, and manage reservations.

Responsibilities

• Courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating
• Maintain flow of seating by section throughout serving period
• Assist in preparing the restaurant for service and maintaining its cleanliness
• Answer telephone, take reservations, and maintain online reservation scheduling
• Assist in monitoring guests’ needs and all phases of operation
• Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant and invite them to return
• Guide servers and dining room assistants in table set-up needs
• Communicate V.I.P. arrivals and special requests to designated personnel
• Accommodate all requests for information courteously
• Anticipate guests’ needs and respond promptly

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated commitment to providing world class guest service
• Ability to work effectively as part of a service oriented team
• Ability to think clearly and quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain composure in pressure situations
• Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and credit transactions
• Ability to be proactive and take initiative
• Ability to present a professional image and handle guest situations consistent with standards

Qualifications

• Previous customer/guest service experience strongly preferred, ideally in food and beverage in an upscale, full-service restaurant.

Nice to Have

• Previous food and beverage experience in a full-service restaurant, preferably in an upscale setting
• Familiarity with reservations software, particularly Open Table
