Laboratory Assistant, Correctional Facility

About This Role

The Laboratory Assistant, Correctional Facility performs standardized non-technical laboratory procedures including collecting and processing specimens, materials, and supplies. This role assists in operating specialized laboratory equipment and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations within a correctional facility setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized non-technical laboratory procedures
• Collect and process laboratory specimens, materials, and supplies
• Assist in operating specialized laboratory equipment
• Comply with all applicable State and federal laws and regulations and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to the laboratory
• Maintain order and supervise the conduct of the incarcerated
• Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property

Requirements

• Six months of experience in laboratory work similar to that described in Definition of Levels above
• Satisfactory completion of a formalized laboratory work experience and training program of at least three months' duration

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade
• Six months of experience in laboratory work or satisfactory completion of a formalized laboratory work experience and training program of at least three months' duration.
