Lab Technologist

About This Role

Perform complex clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and tests by following established protocols. Maintain equipment and records, and conduct quality assurance activities with independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and perform a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures
• Prepare and test specimens for examination and report results
• Follow established in-process quality control procedures including recording data
• Perform routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems and methodologies
• Maintain sufficient supplies at work station
• Ensure and maintain quality control and assurance activities
• Use Infection Control practices and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field
• Licensed by New York State Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
• Minimum of one (1) year work experience and/or training specific to the work being done

Nice to Have

• Chemistry and Hematology experience preferred
• 1-2 years of experience preferred
