About This Role

This role involves preparing and serving food, as well as cleaning up for meals and special events within YMCA Camp Kern's food service operations. The position supports providing high-quality meal service and maintaining health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Function as a general assistant in the camp kitchen for meals and special events
• Implement menus developed for various groups and budgets
• Implement a quality control program for high-quality meal service within cost constraints
• Assist in food preparation, service, and clean up (within restrictions for minors)
• Assist in maintaining the health and safety of the food service operation
• Monitor supplies and notify supervisor when low
• Wash and store dishes according to Health Department Guidelines
• Assist in all aspects of kitchen and dining hall cleanliness, including storage areas
• Assist in the facility's recycling program
• Assist participants with special dietary needs or requests
• Provide exemplary service to all facility participants
• Work cooperatively with staff, directors, vendors, and guests

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Possess the desire to work in a camp kitchen

Nice to Have

• High school diploma or GED
