This role supports physicians in performing diverse interventional radiology procedures, operating and maintaining radiological equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. It focuses on patient care, equipment management, and maintaining medical records.
Responsibilities
- Perform activities for patient and procedure room preparation for radiology procedures
- Review patient specific procedure orders to determine necessary materials and supplies
- Set up, stock, and clean the procedure room and equipment for interventional procedures
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address concerns
- Assist with preparing patients for surgical procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping
- Perform patient transfers and transport patients to and from the procedure room
- Input patient data into the C-Arm
- Act as scrub assistant, aiding physicians during interventional procedures and administering fluoroscopy while maintaining sterile technique
- Ensure medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with policies and procedures
- Assist with maintaining environmental integrity, ensuring all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe daily
- Act as Radiation Safety Officer, monitoring radiation badges and conducting in-services on radiation safety
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and re-stocking of supplies
Requirements
- ARRT Certification
- Licensed Radiology Technician by the Department of Health
- Successfully complete BLS certification
- Working knowledge of interventional equipment (C-Arm and Ultrasound equipment)
- Experience with interventional procedures, using/ordering/maintaining required materials/supplies
- Knowledge and experience of sterile techniques
- Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective devices for radiology systems
- Experience with monitoring and maintaining inventory
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree desirable; and Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
- 4-6 years related experience desirable, or 1 year with ARRT Certification
