Intern/Co-op - Refining Electrical Engineering

About This Role

Join Marathon Petroleum as an Electrical Engineering Intern/Co-op to gain hands-on experience by working on real-world projects, troubleshooting issues, and supporting refinery operations within an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with industry codes and best practices in electrical engineering
• Build critical thinking skills through project work and troubleshooting
• Gain understanding of how different engineering disciplines collaborate in a refinery setting
• Work on various real-world electrical and instrumentation projects
• Develop project management skills including scope alignment, cost/schedule development, and teamwork
• Support area teams within the refinery
• Troubleshoot Electrical & Instrumentation issues
• Analyze equipment failures and develop solutions for recurring difficulties
• Submit Project Request Forms (PRFs) to implement solutions
• Understand equipment maintenance strategies
• Use electrical analysis software for coordination issues and Arc Flash studies
• Learn about Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
• Work on projects supporting process control systems and product movements
• Troubleshoot system power supply problems and perform control system programming
• Assist with hardware/software lifecycle replacement projects and network troubleshooting

Requirements

• Majoring in Electrical Engineering
• Strong academic performance
• Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without visa sponsorship
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree seeking program

Qualifications

• High School (Required)
