Arizona State University, School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in forensic psychology or in closely related areas at the intersection of psychology and law. This role involves teaching online and potentially on-campus, course development, and contributing to the Law and Behavioral Science initiative.
Responsibilities
- Teach psychology and law courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
- Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials, and grade assignments and assessments.
- Develop, maintain, and update course materials as appropriate to the field and modality.
- Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.
- Coordinate regular communication with ASU Online ancillary support services and graduate student teaching assistants.
- Participate in service to the school, college, university, community, and/or profession (Assistant/Associate Teaching Professors).
- Engage in regular professional development.
- Foster collegiality throughout the organization.
- Complete periodic mandatory training.
Requirements
- For Instructor: an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment.
- For Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor: an earned doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology or closely related field (Instructor) or Doctoral degree in psychology or closely related field (Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor)
Nice to Have
- Experience working in public or private settings at the intersection of psychology and law.
- Strong quantitative methodological skills and knowledge.
- Two or more semesters of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels either online or in-person.
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
- Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- State of Arizona licensed or license-eligible for candidates with a clinical psychology background.
