About This Role

Arizona State University is seeking Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the intersection of psychology and law, contributing to transdisciplinary forensic education and preparing students for careers shaping a justice system. These are one-semester appointments, contingent on unit needs and funding.

Responsibilities

  • Teach psychology and law courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats
  • Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials
  • Grade assignments and assessments
  • Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality
  • Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues

Requirements

  • For teaching undergraduate classes: an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment
  • For teaching graduate-level classes: an earned doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field by time of appointment, OR an earned master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field with at least two years of related experience in the intersection of psychology and law

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field for undergraduate teaching; Doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field for graduate teaching, or a Master's degree with two years related experience.
  • Entry level, though 2+ years related experience or prior teaching is desired.

Nice to Have

  • An earned doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field
  • Experience working in public or private settings at the intersection of psychology and law (e.g., police psychology, correctional psychology, forensic psychology, jury consulting, victims’ services, justice policy think tanks, etc.)
  • Two or more semesters of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels either online or in-person
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated by one or more of the following: student evaluations, peer evaluations, annual performance evaluations, or prior course syllabi
  • Experience with technology/course management systems
  • Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills
