Arizona State University is seeking Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at the intersection of psychology and law, focusing on how technology and science interact with legal systems and issues. This role prepares students for careers shaping a justice system informed by scientific evidence and ethical considerations.
Responsibilities
- Teach psychology and law courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats
- Prepare course syllabi, lectures, learning exercises, exams, and other course materials
- Grade assignments and assessments
- Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues
Requirements
- Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment for teaching undergraduate classes
- Doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., criminology, counseling, clinical social work) by time of appointment for teaching graduate-level classes, OR Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field and at least two (2) years of related experience in a field related to the intersection of psychology and law for teaching graduate-level classes
Qualifications
- Master's degree in psychology or a closely related field for undergraduate classes; Doctoral degree or ABD in psychology or a closely related field, OR Master's degree plus two years of related experience for graduate-level classes
Nice to Have
- Earned doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field
- Experience working in public or private settings at the intersection of psychology and law
- Two or more semesters of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from diverse backgrounds
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness
- Experience with technology/course management systems
- Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills
