Infrastructure Automation Engineer

About This Role

Support the maintenance, enhancement, and daily operations of enterprise monitoring solutions, focusing on SCOM administration, automation scripting, and integrating systems to streamline operational tasks within a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the administration and configuration of SCOM management groups, agents, gateways, and management packs
• Assist in building and tuning custom rules, monitors, alerts, discoveries, and dashboards
• Monitor SCOM health, troubleshoot operational issues, and ensure consistent performance across environments
• Participate in routine SCOM maintenance, updates, and best-practice adherence
• Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and Python to automate monitoring tasks and improve efficiency
• Assist in integrating SCOM with internal tools and external systems via API-based workflows
• Contribute to event-driven automation efforts using AWS Lambda and Step Functions
• Support monitoring-as-code and infrastructure-as-code practices within the team
• Write basic to intermediate SQL queries for reporting, data validation, and troubleshooting
• Support dashboard creation and reporting needs using SQL-driven insights
• Assist in analyzing monitoring data to identify issues, trends, and improvement opportunities
• Work with infrastructure, application, cloud, and DevOps teams to onboard new services into SCOM
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and standardized operating procedures
• Participate in incident response efforts by supplying monitoring insights and performing follow-up analysis

Requirements

• Microsoft SCOM experience (management packs, monitoring configuration, troubleshooting)
• Intermediate proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation
• Intermediate proficiency in Python scripting for automation
• Familiarity with APIs, JSON, and automation workflows
• Working knowledge of SQL for data queries and monitoring insights
• Experience supporting system monitoring in enterprise or large-scale environments
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCOM

Nice to Have

• Exposure to cloud monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools (Git, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible)
