About This Role

This role involves developing and implementing behavioral and social skills programs for campers with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in camp activities. The Inclusion Support Leader will coach counselors, provide support to campers and staff, and communicate with parents/guardians.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coach counselors through the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans and crisis plans for identified students.
  • Provide support and instruction to campers and staff, utilizing research-based methodologies of inclusion.
  • Implement and coach camp personnel on research-based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.
  • Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by the department, state, and federal agencies.
  • Facilitate in the planning and implementation of activities that are accessible and enjoyable with adaptations for each child’s participation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on their child's experience at camp and solicit feedback.
  • Assist with camper crisis intervention.
  • Lift and carry equipment or campers up to 50 pounds, pull and push heavy items.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to exceptional student education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate groups to consensus.
  • Ability to effectively engage in problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of how to use and model research-based classroom management and individualized behavioral interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments efficiently.
  • Trained in applied behavior analysis or equivalent course/training.
  • Trained in approved positive behavioral strategies used to prevent or de-escalate behavior.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, with a Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred.
