Responsibilities

• Be the heart of the people experience while building HR infrastructure
• Create policies that make sense for real humans, not just for compliance
• Navigate the tension between being approachable and maintaining necessary boundaries
• Know when a situation calls for empathy vs. when it requires clear policy enforcement
• Partner with leadership on workforce planning with both heart and strategic thinking
• Champion employee development, recognition, and growth opportunities
• Foster a culture where people feel seen, heard, and valued within a fair framework
• Own the employee lifecycle from recruiting to retention
• Navigate multi-state employment requirements
• Handle administrative essentials (payroll, benefits, compliance) efficiently

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on HR experience
• Solo HR or small team experience
• Ability to build relationships and create/uphold structure
• Empathy combined with ability to have difficult conversations
• Experience in creative or design environments
• Knowledge of multi-state employment requirements
• Experience with payroll, benefits, and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor in HR Management or equivalent
• 7+ years of hands-on HR experience, ideally as a solo HR person or in a small team
