This HR Generalist role supports daily HR operations, focusing on employee relations, benefits, and compliance for the organization. The position collaborates closely with employees and leaders to ensure consistent HR experiences.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend improvements for organizational policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Serve as a resource to leadership on performance management processes, including coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline.
- Conduct and facilitate new hire orientation, presenting on organizational policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace culture.
- Oversee and maintain accurate records related to employee benefits enrollment and personnel transactions.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough, objective investigations.
- Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and equal application across departments.
- Assist in administering the performance evaluation process in coordination with the HR Director and/or COO.
- Administer and monitor benefit programs such as health, life, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans (401k), vacation, sick leave, leaves of absence, and EAP.
- Conduct and oversee investigations related to workplace injuries and accidents, coordinating treatment and reporting.
- Manage the employee separation process including exit documentation, final pay, benefits continuation (COBRA), and required notices.
- Interface with the Payroll department to review and verify approvals related to employee absences.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist
- In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, including Title VII, leave of absence, benefits, employee relations and related workplace equity and anti-discrimination regulations
- Knowledge of state and federal requirements related to employment
- Knowledge of HR practices, functions, and best practices
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills
- Strong technical/computer skills
- Proof of valid California driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Evidence of state-mandated car insurance
- Insurable driving record
- Evidence of a negative TB test
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist with in-depth knowledge of labor and employment law, including Title VII, leave of absence, benefits, employee relations and related workplace equity and anti-discrimination regulations.
