About This Role

Assist hospice patients with personal care, including hygienic routines and changing bedding, while also supporting their family members in providing care. This role involves regular consultation with supervising registered nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care issues including changing bedding and clothing
  • Bathe hospice patients
  • Help with hygienic routines such as brushing teeth and washing hair
  • Keep wound dressings clean and dry
  • Assist patients' family members in caring for terminally ill relatives by instructing them on basic health-care routines
  • Consult on a regular basis with supervising registered nurses to apprise hospice team members of patients' progression and families' needs

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following: 1 year of full-time direct client care experience in an institutional setting (hospital or nursing facility), or 1 year of direct client care experience within the last 5 years in a home health or hospice setting, or satisfactorily completed a training and competency evaluation program that complies with federal and state regulations.
  • Be registered and listed in good standing on the Nurse Aide Registry in the state of employment.
  • Valid state driver’s license and autombile insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to recognize the needs of people
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with people
  • Capacity to make meaningful observations and communicate them to the supervisor

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting or 1 year of experience within the last 5 years in a home health or hospice setting.
