Hospice CNA

About This Role

Assist hospice patients with personal care, hygiene routines, and support family members in providing basic healthcare while collaborating with supervising registered nurses to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with various personal care issues including changing bedding, changing clothing, bathing hospice patients, and helping with hygienic routines such as brushing teeth, washing hair and keeping wound dressings clean and dry
• Assist patients' family members in caring for their terminally ill relatives by instructing them on how to perform basic health-care routines
• Consult on a regular basis with supervising registered nurses to keep hospice team members apprised of patients' progression and families' needs

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting (hospital or nursing facility) OR 1 year of experience within the last 5 years in direct client care in a home health or hospice setting OR satisfactorily completed a training and competency evaluation program that complies with federal and state regulations OR registered and listed in good standing on the Nurse Aide Registry in the state of employment
• Valid state driver’s license
• Automobile insurance
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to recognize the needs of people
• Ability to maintain good relationships with people
• Capacity to make meaningful observations and communicate them to the supervisor

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in direct client care in an institutional setting or within the last 5 years in a home health or hospice setting
