Analyze complex data integrity tickets and execute chart correction processes using expertise to drive decision-making within Health Information Management (HIM). This role ensures the integrity of patient documentation and collaborates with clinical and IT teams to resolve errors.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex data integrity tickets and execute appropriate chart correction processes
- Identify and assign correction tasks to appropriate clinical or IT teams
- Follow tickets through to resolution to assure completion and documentation integrity
- Work collaboratively with team members, managers, colleagues, and stakeholders to analyze problems and implement solutions
- Review tickets and determine appropriate workflows and tools to be utilized
- Apply appropriate chart correction tools based on workflows
- Work with clinical providers and department end users to resolve errors
- Maintain required information for tracking through to resolution and update tasks as directed
- Complete tasks in expected turnaround times
- Communicate tasks and directions to clinical and non-clinical users, providing clear, concise instructions and timely responses
- Guide amendment to medical record when a patient amendment request is received
- Participate in testing of new functionality related to EMR documentation
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Health Information or Medical Record Technology
- Minimum of four years' experience in a multi-facility Health Information Management (HIM) or similar healthcare setting
- Understanding of healthcare terminology, revenue cycle business processes, and user issues associated with hospital/clinic practice
- Knowledge of medical record content and management
- Working knowledge of EHR either through experience or education
- Working knowledge of PC systems, including MS Office Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio
- Previous experience with Sanford One Chart or Epic
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information or Medical Record Technology required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of four years' experience in a multi-facility Health Information Management (HIM) or similar healthcare setting, with 3+ years working with coding, chart analysis, or release of information preferred.

- Three or more years working with coding, chart analysis, or release of information
- Previous experience working with the hybrid medical record
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
