Lead and supervise all functions of the Grocery department, ensuring an outstanding customer experience, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting day-to-day operations. This role focuses on driving sales, managing inventory, and fostering teamwork among associates.
Responsibilities
- Ensure exceptional service to create an outstanding customer experience
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean department environment
- Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department
- Support the day-to-day functions of Grocery operations
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including temperature maintenance and logging
- Report all safety risks, issues, illegal activity, and customer/employee accidents
- Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)
- Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs
- Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget and profit/loss reviews
- Monitor and control expenses for the department
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
- Implement the period promotional plan and execute sales promotions
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions
- Train and develop associates on performance and participate in the performance appraisal process
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume
- Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates
- Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Any management experience preferred, 1 year of grocery retail experience desired.
