This is a full-time, temporary internship position within the Earth and Environment Team, allowing you to gain hands-on experience in geological engineering while contributing to real projects. You will develop technical, social, and ethical skills alongside senior staff.
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of Geological engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
- Learn basic principles of Geological Engineering
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
- Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation
- Complete training on assigned tasks
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Requirements
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
- Must be 18 or older
- Demonstrated interest in Geological Engineering, or related field
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Hold a valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship
Qualifications
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Nice to Have
- Actively enrolled in an accredited Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
- Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus
- A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organization
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120)
- MSHA Part 48A Underground Coal and Metal/Non-metal Training (30 CFR 48)
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training
