About This Role

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Transportation Planning Intern to work as part of their Advisory and Planning Team in Washington, D.C. This role enhances education and professional aptitude through hands-on experience, supporting engineering tasks, and contributing to transportation planning projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Transportation Planning.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later, or a Graduate degree program.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Transportation Planning or related field
  • Demonstrated interest in Transportation Planning or a related field.

Nice to Have

  • Coursework/expressed interest in creating vibrant, thriving communities through the intersection of transportation, urban planning, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong writing and communication skills (writing sample will be requested).
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
