Service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers in the region. This role requires an independent, self-starter willing to travel and respond promptly to power/generator alarms.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining generators, diagnosing and repairing problems, installing and replacing components or entire systems
- Performing additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conducting performance checks and regular maintenance on generators to ensure proper readiness
- Reading and following blueprints or other design specifications to install or repair
- Installing fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components, and testing for proper operation
- Responding promptly/timely to Power/Generator alarms
- Being on call 24/7 if necessary and responding promptly in answering assigned phone and email
- Performing work with awareness of all potential hazards connected with the installation and maintenance of power supply equipment
- Using safety equipment and utilizing safety practices; attending and participating in all designated safety and training meetings
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of Generators
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances, workday, evening, or night hours; overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be gone from home for extended periods of time
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
