This role involves maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing commercial generators on cell phone towers. It requires a skilled and motivated individual who can work independently, travel extensively, and respond to alarms and emergencies 24/7.
Responsibilities
- Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, install and replace components or entire systems
- Perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance on generators to ensure proper readiness
- Read and follow blueprints or other design specifications to install or repair equipment
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components, and test for proper operation
- Respond promptly and timely to Power/Generator alarms, be on call 24/7 if necessary, and promptly answer assigned phone and email
- Perform work with awareness of all potential hazards, use safety equipment and practices, and participate in safety and training meetings
Requirements
- Minimum one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of Generators
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with generator maintenance is preferred and a minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
Nice to Have
- Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance
