About This Role

The Generator Technician maintains, diagnoses, and repairs commercial generators on cell phone towers in the region, ensuring proper readiness and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, and install/replace components or entire systems
  • Perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
  • Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance on generators to ensure proper readiness
  • Read and follow blueprints or other design specifications for installation or repair
  • Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, controls, and test for proper operation
  • Respond promptly to Power/Generator alarms, be on call 24/7 if necessary, and answer assigned phone and email
  • Perform work with awareness of all potential hazards and utilize safety equipment and practices

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
  • Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of Generators
  • Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes; two or more years preferred

Nice to Have

  • Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
