This role is responsible for the efficient and accurate receipt and verification of grocery vendor deliveries, while performing additional duties in Produce, Point-of-Sale, and Receiving to support the store's financial goals. The Lead Clerk contributes to a positive environment by providing excellent customer service and ensuring operational integrity.
Responsibilities
- Receive and verify grocery vendor deliveries efficiently and accurately
- Perform functions in Produce, Point-of-Sale, and Receiving to support financial interests
- Demonstrate teamwork and provide friendly, efficient customer service
- Greet customers, assist with products, perform price checks, and handle heavy items
- Operate equipment including pallet jacks, box cutters, and forklifts according to guidelines
- Assume responsibility for receiving area security and operating hours, controlling vendor traffic
- Monitor and report abnormal vendor actions or unauthorized personnel in Receiving
- Log irregularities, discrepancies, shortages, or damaged shipments and process credits
- Deliver product to storage/workload areas, handle products properly to reduce waste, and rotate merchandise
- Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards, keeping all areas clean and swept/mopped
- Comply with and reinforce all food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations, identifying unsafe conditions
Requirements
- Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Basic math skills
