This internship offers current college students hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experience in construction project engineering within a fast-paced retail environment. Interns will assist project managers in various stages of construction projects, from planning to closeout, gaining valuable insights and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Assist project managers in the execution of essential job functions, including pre-remodel checklists and "as built" fixture/refrigeration drawings
- Support the execution of contractor bid processes
- Participate in weekly tasks and job meetings during capital projects
- Aid in the timely preparation and execution of equipment orders
- Help track equipment orders and schedule deliveries in accordance with construction schedules
- Assist with the management of store fixture installation
- Support project closeout activities such as punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, and filing
- Assist in the inspection of capital projects for compliance with specifications and quality control
- Coordinate reviews of refrigeration and electrical/mechanical plans with technician staff
- Help review proposed change orders and assess their validity
- Assist in the review of architecture plans for completeness and compliance with standards
- Provide support to other Facility Engineering personnel, as requested
- Participate in department meetings and "huddles"
- Complete estimates and manage completion of minor capital projects
- Complete specific assignments as requested by the college co-op/intern program
- Complete a cumulative project (summary of internship accomplishments) and present to management
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Highly motivated with desire to take initiative
Qualifications
- Construction Management or Engineering majors, actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university
Nice to Have

- Ability to work in groups or independently
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret information
- Commitment to customer service
- Prior experience in a construction environment
- Preferred GPA of 3.0
