Store/Night Clerk

About This Role

Provide outstanding customer service in a retail grocery environment by maintaining a safe and clean store, assisting customers with product inquiries, and supporting the department manager in achieving sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions and making product suggestions
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and store
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials
• Check product quality, ensuring freshness and taking appropriate action on sell-by dates
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept
• Reinforce safety programs, comply with procedures, and notify management of unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents
• Report all safety risks/issues and illegal activity

Requirements

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Effective communication skills

Nice to Have

• Any retail experience
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
