Fortinet Administrator

About This Role

This role involves working as a Fortinet Administrator, responsible for resolving network-related issues, maintaining network architecture documentation, and implementing new network equipment. The administrator will ensure network stability, security, and provide technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Work independently and with approved vendors and other state agencies to resolve network-related issues
• Create and update documentation related to current network architecture and new installations
• Possess functional knowledge of connecting public and private networks without compromising network stability
• Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of PCI/PII requirements
• Plan and implement future installations of network equipment and conduct capacity planning
• Perform high-level analysis and troubleshooting of network infrastructure
• Provide technical expertise, direction, and leadership to other team members
• Conduct research and analysis on all requests related to problem resolution
• Travel between facilities to maintain and deploy networking equipment

Requirements

• Fortinet certifications (NSE, FCF, FCA, FCP, or FCSS)
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex networks
• Knowledge of key routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP)
• Familiarity with VLANs, VTP, and STP
• Experience with ACLs, firewalls, VPNs, Wi-Fi, enterprise wireless, and related security technologies
• Strong understanding of routers and switches
• Experience with Metro-Ethernet technologies
• Proficient with network monitoring and management tools
• Experience with VoIP and QoS
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Adaptable to changing priorities, emergencies, or production needs
• Extensive experience creating and updating network Visio diagrams

Qualifications

• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex networks
