About This Role

The Firefighter Lieutenant provides leadership and acts as a working supervisor to Firefighters, overseeing fire company activities including emergency response, hazardous material incidents, and fire prevention. This role ensures the daily operation and maintenance of a fire station and its equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents, providing services like emergency rescue, fire suppression, and search and rescue
  • Perform emergency medical and first aid services as needed
  • Prepare reports regarding emergency incidents
  • Participate in fire prevention operations, training, fire investigations, and public education
  • Identify, isolate, and contain hazardous materials safely
  • Participate in cleaning and maintaining fire station, equipment, and apparatus to ensure constant readiness
  • Perform Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of emergency response equipment and installed life safety systems
  • Maintain emergency vehicle equipment logs and track EMS supplies/inventory
  • Submit requisitions for additional materials and supplies
  • Assist Fire Captain or Paramedic with Incident and Patient Reports

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 6+ years of applicable direct experience and 5+ current certifications (manufacturer/state) in fire protection and/or related field
  • Firefighter II, IFSAC/ProBoard or NFPA 1081 equivalent
  • Fire Officer I, IFSAC/ProBoard
  • Fire Inspector I, IFSAC/ProBoard
  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
  • Hazardous Materials Technician
  • Rope Rescue Training
  • Confined Space Training
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required; Bachelor’s in related field of study preferred
  • 6+ years of applicable direct experience with 5+ current certifications in fire protection and/or related field

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s in related field of study
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) certification
